This is the medical and public education arm of the:

Australian Venom Research Unit

The site is currently under development. Over time it is hoped that this site will expand and offer online teaching modules. In its current state the site is AVRU's clinical teaching portal, and offers information on specialised training courses, seminars and forums organised by AVRU personnel. The main focus on this site is the clinical toxinology of the venoms, toxins and secretions of animals, plants and microbes.

August 15th to 17th: 2008 Annual Toxinology Weekend:Organised by Bill Nimo.  This years weekend will be held at the Hyatt Regency Coolum at the Sunshine Coast

November23-28th 2008:  Global Issues in Clinical Toxinology Addressing a therapeutic “black hole”: the worldwide crisis in antivenom supply and medical training for snake bite treatment

Newsletter:

To help improve education in toxicology, we will be publishing an electronic newsletter that will initially be distributed four times a year.

This newsletter will contain reports on new clinically relevant research publications, as well as FAQs and clinical practice update information. Registered users are invited to contribute interesting images and case reports for inclusion in this newsletter.

Please note that this web site is still in its early stages of development and suggestions, advice and comments are very much welcome.
